There’s a line of dialogue in The Book of Eli that encapsulates the entire film’s thesis: “I got so caught up in keeping it safe that I forgot to live by what I’d learned from it.” In this quote is the whole of the film. Its themes, its commentary, its action, its characters.

img src=”http://www.darkhorizons.com/assets/0010/4674/sinestro_article.jpg” /pWhen rumors first emerged that Jackie Earle Haley (”Watchmen,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street”) would play the villain Sinestro in the upcoming “Green Lantern” film, the talk was quickly shot down by the actor who denied the report./p pNow a href=”http://www.hitfix.com”HitFix/a reports that Haley remains the only choice for Sinestro by the studio and he’s in the film. The key thing here is that Sinestro will essentially be what Dylan Baker’s Curt Conners was to the “Spider-Man” films – a short role that will expand into a fully-fledged villain in a further sequel down the track./p pPeter Saarsgard plains the main villain of the piece, the dangerous telepath Hector Hammond whose contact with an alien force threatens Earth’s security./p

img src=”http://www.darkhorizons.com/assets/0010/4671/piranha_article.jpg” /pThe Weinstein Company has pushed back the release of Alexandre Aja’s “Piranha 3D” by several months. Originally slated for April 16th, the film will now open sometime in August at the earliest says a href=”http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2010/01/weinstein-cos-piranha-3d-isnt-going-to-be-biting-anyone-for-awhile.html”The LA Times/A./p pOfficially the delay was to get it out of the way of Lionsgate’s movie “Kick-Ass”. Unofficially speculation is rife that the film needs some extra work on it, or that the distributor simply doesn’t have the finances to release and market the film just yet./p p’Piranha’ now joins a growing list of films on the Weinstein’s slate that have yet to set a release date including “All Good Things,” “Hoodwinked Too!” and “Shanghai”

Everyone knows you’re supposed to win one for ” The Gipper .” But soon sports teams might be inspired to win one for “Mulkey” as Variety reports Mike Tollin ( Radio , Summer Catch ) will direct Mulkey , the story of a firefighter named Louis Mulkey who spent his spare time as an assistant high school basketball coach in South Carolina before he and eight of his brave colleagues perished in a 2007 fire. After his death the local fire department presented the team with a custom memorial fire helmet which was placed on the bench for each of the team’s games in the following season which saw them win their first ever state championship. Not to trample on a dead man’s grave, but I can’t help but think of the implications that Mulkey is somehow responsible for the team’s win in a cheesy 6th Man kind of way.
