News – Vaughn, Kevin James Team For Ron Howard

The Man of Bronze is headed to the big screen! It was discovered late last year that Shane Black , writer of great 80s films like The Monster Squad , Lethal Weapon , The Long Kiss Goodnight , and director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as well, would be writing the script for a Doc Savage movie in the works at Columbia Pictures ( aka Sony). Variety is now reporting that Black will also be directing the movie (only his second time) from a script he’s writing with newcomers Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry.

Fresh off the recent star-studded BAFTA awards night in the United Kingdom, an impressive trio of British actors have assembled as ScreenDaily reports that Thandie Newton , Jason Isaacs and David Tennant have signed on to star in the psychological thriller Retreat . Produced by UK’s Magnet Films and directed by freshman filmmaker Carl Tibbetts, the story revolves around a couple (Newton & Isaacs) who are seeking to rebuild their relationship by taking time out on a remote island until suddenly a military man (Tennant) shows up on their doorstep half-dead telling them there is a lethal virus killing millions on the mainland. Tibbetts also wrote the script with Janice Hallett and will begin shooting in May in Canada

Toss this one onto the ever-growing pile of adaptations from intriguing science fiction novels, as THR reports that Fox has picked up the rights to John Twelve Hawks’ series of novels known as The Fourth Realm Trilogy , with Watchmen co-writer Alex Tse set to write the script. Compared to Star Wars and The Matrix (two insanely popular franchises, go figure) the first book , The Traveler , is set in a US society run by a secret organization seeking to control the population via constant observation. Seeking to rebel against these constraints are an almost extinct group of people called Travelers.
