Avatar director James Cameron told Folha de S.Paulo (via AFP ) on Sunday that he will return to Brazil this year to make a 3D film on indigenous people of the Amazon who oppose construction of a dam for fear it could flood tribal lands. “I want to return to meet some of the leaders of the Xikrin-Kayapo tribe who invited me,” Cameron said. “I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture.” The filmmaker has already come to the Amazon twice in a show of support for the indigenous tribe and to film a short piece on their resistance to the damming project on the Xingu River, which will be included on the upcoming Avatar Blu-ray and DVD.

  • Earlier tonight I watched my very first film of this 30-day festival tour , attending the world premiere of One Hour Photo director Mark Romanek’s newest film Never Let Me Go in Telluride. It’s based on the beloved novel by Kazuo Ishiguro and it’s kind of a period piece drama about a love triangle between three individuals growing up in England, but there is a lot more to it than just that
