Ever since it was officially announced in July that actor Andrew Garfield would be playing Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Marc Webb’s upcoming reboot of the superhero series, no one involved has spoken about the project yet (and I’m sure Sony is happy about that).

  • Though Disney previously made an animated version in 1998 of the tale of the legendary female soldier, the House of Mouse has absolutely nothing to do with this new indie project coming straight out of China. THR reports director Jan de Bont ( Speed , Twister ) will direct an English-language live-action telling of Mulan , the story about the young female warrior named Hua Mulan who joins an all-male army. Chinese superstar Zhang Ziyi will portray the title heroine first mentioned in a 6th century poem titled “The Ballad of Mulan” which was popularized around the world by Disney’s musical telling of the ancient story

Apparently Scott was so impressed by Arterton’s performance in J. Blakeson’s The Disappearance of Alice Creed , that he wanted to meet with her for the main female role.

  • Two months ago, when it was announced that British actor Andrew Garfield had scored the coveted role of Peter Parker in the upcoming still-untitled Spider-Man reboot by Marc Webb, there weren’t that many American moviegoers familiar with his work, but with two new movies coming out in the next month, Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go and David Fincher’s The Social Network , one can expect Garfield will be everywhere talking about the movies and invariable, he’ll be asked questions about the high-profile superhero reboot. The first to get to him was The Hollywood Reporter , who asked him for a few thoughts on getting the part: I have been waiting for this phone call for 24 years, for someone to call me up and say, quot;Hey, we want you to pretend to be a character that…
