Speaking of box office numbers , we’ve got something else year-end-box-office-related worthy of its own post just because it’s such a kick ass, and rather deep exploration into box office earnings – so let’s get into it! If you’re already foaming at the mouth and you’re this obsessed with how much money movies make… maybe you should move to L.A.

On this week’s very special episode of The Golden Briefcase , Tim, Jeremy and Alex are joined by special guest Peter Sciretta , owner and editor of SlashFilm , in order to go over their tops of this last year in film! The guys forego the usual top 10 countdowns and instead go through some categories that best outline some of the best (and worst) movies of 2010 : Biggest Surprise/Disappointment, Best Actor/Actress, Best/Worst Film of the Year. We also mix in listener voicemails talking about their favorite films of the year including opinions from numerous good friends of the show

The year may just be ending, but today’s earnings won’t make or break THR’s tally of the Top 10 highest grossing films from 2010 . No matter how many times we cry about wanting original stories, less sequels and more bold motion pictures, the films that earn the most money at the box office seem to indicate other desires from audiences worldwide.

While director Ron Howard recently opened up a little more about the forthcoming unprecedented adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, now we’re starting to get into the big news for this film and TV crossover project. Treat this as a rumor for the time being, but The New York Post is reporting that Javier Bardem ( No Country for Old Men ) is the top choice to play Roland Deschain, the last living member of a knightly order of gunslingers, and humanity’s last hope to save a civilization that will crumble unless he finds the Dark Tower. And if he’s not up to the task, then apparently Viggo Mortensen ( Eastern Promises ) is a close second

Though recently he’s dabbled in the role of one-eyed hero Nick Fury for Marvel’s growing cinemtic universe of comic book adaptations, it looks like Samuel L. Jackson will be doing some very bad things in the near future.
