Ginnifer Goodwin (HBO’s “Big Love”) is in talks to star in Something Borrowed for Alcon Entertainment-based 2S Films, reports Variety . Goodwin will play a Manhattan attorney who becomes involved with her best friend’s fiance following her 30th birthday. Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are producing with 2S principals Hilary Swank and Molly Smith

Deadline Hollywood reports that Salma Hayek has had to drop out of CBS Films’ Faster due to a schedule conflict. The site says that Hayek exited the film a week before shooting begins on February 8th. The filmmakers will move fast to recast the role.

Star Trek and “Heroes” star Zachary Quinto will play famed composer and pianist George Gershwin (pictured left) in a biopic at DreamWorks Pictures, says Deadline Hollywood , which adds that it is one of three projects that Steven Spielberg is looking at to direct next. The site says that the studio is supplying accent and dialogue coaches for Quinto, and shooting could begin as soon as April

Roughly a year ago, ComingSoon.net spoke with director Pierre Morel about his upcoming action-thriller Taken and neither of us could possibly have had any idea at the time that the movie would explode and become such a huge sleeper hit in the United States nine months after its release in Europe. At the time, Morel had just finished shooting From Paris With Love , his third pairing with long-time partner, producer Luc Besson, a secret agent action-comedy that brings together the unlikely pairing of John Travolta with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The latter plays a Cambridge-educated government agent who wants to move up the ranks in the world of espionage.
