    pJon Spaihts (”Passengers,” “Shadow 19″) has been hired to write a prequel to 1979’s “Alien” in development at 20th Century Fox reports a href=”http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118006722.html?categoryid=13amp;cs=1″Variety/a./p pPreceding that first film, the project marks the return of Ridley Scott to the franchise with the helmer returning to the director’s chair./p pSpaihts got the job after pitching the studio and Scott Free, which will produce the film./p

  • Spierigs To Remake "Captain Blood"

    pRising Aussie helmers Michael and Peter Spierig (”Undead,” “Daybreakers”) have signed on to direct a remake of the classic 1935 swashbuckler “Captain Blood” for Warner Bros. Pictures says a href=”http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118006704.html?categoryid=13amp;cs=1″Variety/a./p pErrol Flynn starred in the original as a wrongly imprisoned British doctor named Peter Blood who escapes with a French pirate (Basil Rathbone) and clashes with the buccaneer who kidnapped his woman (Olivia de Havilland)./p pThe new version switches the location to space though will keep quite close to the storyline. Bill Gerber will produce while John Brownlow will pen the script./p
